
Microwave cooking : check out these yummy dessert recipes
You don’t need an excuse to indulge your sweet tooth. Boredom, hunger and celebrating the weekend — all are perfectly good reasons to put your apron on and bake a dessert. If you are short on time, then a microwave oven is your saviour. Here are a bunch of dessert recipes that you can prepare from start to finish in a microwave:
1. Carrot Halwa
Ingredients
Half kg carrot peeled, grated
200 ml of milk
1/2 cup sugar (powdered)
1/2 cup khoya or milk powder
3 tbsp ghee
1 tbsp Chopped dry fruits
1/2 tsp cardamom powder
Method
In a microwave-safe bowl, mix grated carrot and milk. The dish must be deep so that it lets milk boil without spilling over. Now, boil the carrots and milk for 7 to 8 minutes. Let the mix sit for 5 minutes. Stir well and now add khoya or milk powder and sugar. Mix everything well. Boil everything for 5 to 7 minutes. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Add a generous amount of ghee, cardamom powder and mix well. Microwave for 2 minutes. Once done garnish with chopped nuts.
2. Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients
1/2 cup corn flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 eggs
1/3 cup chocolate chips
Method
Take maida, cocoa and baking powder together in a bowl. Add melted butter and mix well using a hand whisk. Add lightly beaten eggs and vanilla essence to the mix. Lastly, add the chocolate chips. If you like nuts, then add almonds and walnuts. Pour the mix into a greased microwave-safe baking tray. Bake for 5 minutes. Serve it hot with vanilla ice cream. Drizzle some chocolate syrup over the top.
3. Sooji Seera
Ingredients
1/2 teacup sooji / rawa
1/2 cup milk
6 tablespoons powdered sugar
4 tablespoons ghee
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
Method
In a microwave-safe bowl, add milk, sugar and 1 1/2 cups of water. Boil the mix for 2 minutes and then stir the mix and then boil it for another 2 minutes. In another microwave-safe bowl, add melted ghee and semolina and mix everything well. Microwave for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring in-between after every 1 minute. Now add sweetened milk and semolina mixture together. Add two to three tablespoons of water if the mixture is too thick. Mix well and microwave
for 1 minute. Sprinkle cardamom powder on top and use a hand whisk to mix everything together. Garnish it with chopped almonds and cashew.
