Everyday tasks like boiling water take less than half the time than traditional cooking methods. An induction chulha between 1400 – 2000 watt is perfect for Indian kitchens. Here are a few favourite comfort food recipes:
1. Egg curry: This is an easy and quick dish that you can prepare when you are not in a mood to cook something elaborate. Place a pot on the induction cooktop and boil the eggs. Take a skillet, pour some oil and add ginger-garlic paste. Add chopped onions till they are golden brown. Add tomatoes to it. Pro tip: Do add salt at this point as it will help the tomatoes to cook fast. Add powdered spices like coriander powder, red chilli and egg curry masala. Add a little water if the gravy is thick. Now, add the key ingredients, the eggs, into the boiling gravy. Cover the pan for 2 to 3 minutes. Voila! Your aromatic egg curry is ready!
2. Pakoras: Whether it’s raining or not, pakoras (fritters) are the ultimate comfort food. For the batter, take gram flour (besan) and add chopped green chilli, ginger, chilli powder, garam masala and coriander powder. Add salt to taste. Add water and make sure that the consistency of the batter is not very thin. Dip chopped vegetables like onions, cauliflower and potatoes and toss them in the mix. For deep frying the pakoras, take a pan with sufficient oil and place it on the induction cooktop. Choose the deep fry option and put the batter-coated vegetables into the pan and let the magic happen.
3. Cheese omelette: Cheese omelette is a great breakfast item as well as an evening snack. Whisk the eggs in a bowl and add your favourite toppings. Add onions, bell peppers, mushroom, and coriander leaves. Put oodles of mozzarella cheese. After adding salt and pepper, just give it a good stir. Put a skillet on the induction cooktop and pour some oil on it. Without much ado, pour the egg mix. Remember, you are using the induction cooktop so you don’t have to wait for the pan to heat up.
