There are no two ways that a microwave oven is one of the essential appliances in the kitchen. From reheating leftovers to baking cakes, microwave ovens make everyday life convenient. As there are different microwave oven types, you can use each of them to cook certain types of dishes.
Here are microwave oven types and what you can make in them:
Solo microwave ovens: These are basic models and are ideal for reheating food and simple cooking. They cannot be used for grilling and baking. They are best suited for simple operations such as simple cooking and reheating. Solo microwave ovens provide uniform heating. In solo microwave ovens, you can make rice and instant noodles and instant oats.
Rice: To make rice, take a deep microwave-safe bowl. For every one cup of rice, take 2 cups of water. Microwave on high for 10 minutes. Let it sit for 10 minutes until water is absorbed.
In a microwave-safe bowl, pour noodles and water. Microwave on high for 3 to 4 minutes. Add the masala that you got along with the noodles. Stir them well and microwave them for 1 minute.
Grill microwave oven: Grill Microwave ovens come with additional grilling accessories like skewers. They are ideal for grilling meat and making kebabs, chicken tikkas and paneer tikkas. The best thing about grilling in a microwave oven is that delicious recipes are ready in a few minutes without any hassles.
Chicken tikkas: Cut chicken into cubes and make incisions so that marinade can properly seep into the chicken. For marinade, in a bowl take yoghurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli, garam masala powder and salt as per taste. Combine everything well. Make sure that the chicken is properly coated. Let the chicken sit for an hour or two. Place the chicken on a microwave-safe plate and grill for 10 minutes. Change sides frequently.
Convection microwave oven: This is an all-in-one microwave that lets you reheat, grill and bake. In this type of microwave, the heating element generates heat waves. There is a fan to circulate hot air, allowing faster cooking and baking. A convection microwave oven is a must for baking cookies, cakes, pizzas and muffins.
Cookies: In a bowl, mix 1 cup maida (refined flour), 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla essence and 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate. Mix everything together and add butter to make the dough. Grease a microwave-safe tray, take a spoonful from the cookie dough & arrange them onto the greased tray. Put the tray inside the microwave which was preheated for 10 minutes in convection mode at 200°C and bake the cookies at 180°C for 8 minutes. Let the cookies cool for an hour or so.
