2. Masala Vada: It is a spicy snack that can be served as a side dish with the main course or enjoyed with tea.
Ingredients
1/2 cup chana dal
1 onion (finely chopped)
2 tbsp coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Hing/asafoetida
Oil to deep fry

How to make it?
Wash and soak chana dal for at least 2 hours. Drain the water completely and grind it along with cloves, red chillies and ginger. The paste should be thick and coarse and not runny so make sure you don’t add too much water. Place the batter in a bowl. Then add finely chopped onions, coriander leaves, salt (as per taste) and a pinch of hing. Mix well. Take the batter and make round balls and then slightly flatten them.
