As one of the leading kitchen appliances brands in India, we share with you a few useful tips to prevent scratch marks and how to get them off a hob :
How to prevent scratch marks
1. Don’t let the stains sit for too long: To keep gas hobs looking pristine, make sure you clean them daily. Spray surface cleaner and wipe the stains with a damp cloth. This daily cleaning will prevent food from hardening onto your hob top. This simple cleaning method works best when you clean spills and splatters as and when they happen. Old burnt food needs a little more elbow grease. Burnt food when left on the hob top for quite long can also leave scratch marks.
2. Clean with vinegar: Vinegar is one of the best things you can use for polishing and brightening up many surfaces, especially glass tops. Once your gas hob has cooled down, use a cloth or sponge and warm soapy water to wipe up any wet spills. Apply white vinegar over the glass top and buff it for a minute with a clean and dry cloth.
How to clean scratch marks
1. Inspect the scratch: Before you start cleaning scratch marks, inspect them first. If they are too deep, consult a professional. Deep scratches will require professional repair or replacement.
2. Removing simple scratches: Superficial scratch marks can be removed at home easily. Make a paste of two teaspoons of baking soda and one teaspoon of water in the small bowl. Ensure that the paste is wet and not too dry. Gently apply this paste to the scratched areas of the glass stovetop. Buff the scratches with a soft sponge or cloth. Finally, wipe off any excess paste with fresh cloth. Remember, if the scratches are deep, they may fade but not go away completely.
Note: Before cleaning, be sure the burners of the gas hob are off and have fully cooled. Never use abrasive cleaning agents to scrub the glass top as that can cause further scratching. Before doing any repairs, do read the manufacturer’s manual. If your gas hob is still under the warranty period, call the professional from the company.
